The great white man-eating shark
This is the last story I've read this year to the classes. Students love this story. It is another version of "the boy who cried wolf" and in a much interesting way. The situation is unreal but it will give kids a lot of ways to imagine.
Picture Books
Picture books are my favourite. I saw many Year 1 or 2 students were rushing to borrow chapter books or may be pushed by parents. I will encourage them to go back to picture books because there are so many things to appreciate. A short picture book can tell a concept, a situation, or some feelings very easily. There are even many published for upper grade students and that seem to be the trend.

Summer Reading
A summer reading article written by Leigh Ann Jones pointed out some good and true points that we should always keep in mind.
1. Reading isn't just for bedtime.
2. Allow your kids to choose their own books.
3. Reading is its own reward.
4. Don’t say reading is important. Show it.
5. Reading aloud isn’t just for little kids.
6. Provide the opportunity for reading.
7. Allow all types of reading.
8. Own books.
